CCAS operates a number of 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) in Chicago, Cicero and Berwyn.

21st CCLC Overview
The US Department of Education has funded 21st CCLC programs for out-of-school time (after school and summer) outreach since 2004. 21st CCLC programs support most activities that increase students’ engagement in learning and build social-emotional development, with an end goal of improving students’ academic performance. The programs also work to strengthen parent engagement in their children’s schooling and learning. Northeastern Illinois University's Center for College Access and Success has sponsored many 21st CCLC initiatives since 2004, including the following four grants:
21st CCLC Pathways
21st CCLC Pathways serves 150 middle school students and 60 families enrolled in South Berwyn District 100 Heritage Middle School and Freedom Middle School. The program offers morning tutoring, academic support during lunch periods, STEAM after school enrichment activities such as Code Challenge with Arduino, Robotics with VEX and Lego, Underwater Robotics with Seapearch, Drone coding with Tello and Folkloric Dance Ensemble. Services are offered Monday Through Friday during the academic year from October to May and during the summer for a length of 5 weeks.
21st CCLC Morton-Success
21st CCLC Morton-Success serves 9th-12th grade students in Cicero-Berwyn at J. Sterling Morton District 201 across three school sites: Morton Freshman Center, Morton East, and Morton West. Program offerings include academic support (ALAS, Power Hour, AP Study Circles, and SAT Prep), art-integration projects (El Taller de Arte/Art, AP seminar art & photography, and Multimedia Journalism), Steps to the Seal of Biliteracy (Traductores/translators, Guerreros Bilingues/Spanish book clubs), STEM initiatives (Coding Club and STEMentores), as well as parent activities (Club de Lectura/book club and Hora Artesanal/craft hour). All activities focus on culture, identity and language development, as well as community-building and family involvement. In 2020 - 2021, all activities are being facilitated online via Microsoft Teams and Zoom per district remote-learning policy and program schedules variy with offerings Monday through Friday at various times to encourage student & parent participation.
