Loteria Art 


 

La Lotería has been played as a game of chance and for educational purposes. Because the Lotería cards include the name of the pictured character, they are used to teach reading, writing, history, and social values. Many bilingual teachers use the game as a teaching tool in the United States.

 

In this workshop participants will paint their favorite Lotería card. Participants can pick from Don Clemente's most popular Lotería cards of all time and turn them into their own masterpiece!

 

Choose from: El Corazón, La Luna, La Rosa, El Nopal, La Dama, El Gallo and El Sol.

 

•  One 16" x 20" canvas per person.

"El Corazón" or " El Nopal" Reverse Painting Shadow Box


 

Inspired by the Mexican Loteria cards, participants will create a one of a kind shadow box. Customize your shadow box by bringing your own pictures, flowers or figurines.

 

This project will be completed in one session.

All materials will be provided.

 

•  One 9" x 11" shadow box per participant

Day of the Dead: Owl Cup/Pencil Holder

Perhaps no holiday has more iconic imagery than the Day of the Dead. Take part in

this complex, religious, and colorful celebration with the Day of the Dead ceramic planter workshop! The ceramic planting pot is based on the calaveras, an artist's interpretation of the human skull. This unique piece will bring vibrancy and culture to any home, and it makes a great gift!

 

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to paint their own ceramic planting pot to take home.

 

This project will be completed in one session. All materials will be provided.

 

• One ceramic planter per person and a small canvas with a stand.  Flowers not provided.

Flaming Heart Wall Art

 

The flaming heart is representative of a healthy heart, passion, life, and love. The flame atop the heart is symbolic of the divine light of love. This project will be completed in one session. All materials will be provided.
